They are widely used in topographic maps to represent the shape and elevation of the land surface. CHARACTERISTICS OF CONTOUR LINES 1. Equal Elevation – Each contour line represents a constant elevation. 2. Contour Interval – The vertical distance or difference in height between two successive contour lines. 3. Close Spacing – Indicates steep slopes. 4. Wide Spacing – In
